Too often we set our sights too low. What are their goals, where are they coming from and certainly where are they going is the question.
At the bus stop, at the night spot at the cyber spot..You need to look them in the eye and get a good reading on their motives and intent before looking up. Don’t put all your life out there. In most cases we are prone to view, discipher, seek to rearrange and fix others. The most beneficial evaluation comes when we face relationship from the perspective of introspect. So for this treatise

relationship is a therapeutic mission. The exciting part of the mission is the journey itself.

In this global atmosphere geographical boundaries are no longer a barrier to relationships. With the flick of a mouse and a camera phone we are instantly in a new place, discovering other cultures and territories. I am ever mindful of the tender lessons my dad taught me. There is always a North Star. No matter where you are North is always North. No matter who you entertain be true to who you are. Be true to that which is wholesome. Live by the golden rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

Therefore no matter who we are exposed to whether it be diverse cultures, uncharted practices, and environments North is North. Use North for a compass understanding that you may not agree or find rationale for the behavior of others. Be responsible for your own behavior. Knowing others values may not be akin to your own. I encourage you to be clear where you are headed. It is never wise to allow anyone to set your boundaries. It must be clear and concise just who we are before an attempt to tread the slippery slopes of other peoples, cultures and areas.

Value your own person hood, value your space on the planet enough to steer your own boat. Journaling, and self dialogue are valuable tools in the relationship evolution.
Goal setting with concrete objectives and milestones can be a great tool in charting your course.

NOTE: It is rewarding to follow or associate with individuals that are going somewhere. Never make individuals your companions that have no goals, no motivation, and no vision.

Relationships are fun but it is ought to be a mutual affair. A blind man with a seeing eye dog is pretty darn near whole. Opposites attract but the North and South Poles will never meet. There must be some balance and commonality to take lives journey together.
It is often not important what is said or done but what are the motives for what was done or said, Check into the motive department and see the indicators that point to character or the lack thereof. You love me because of I, love you when are tell tale warning signs that the relationship is not true North. When that stimulus is removed the real motive will be seen. When I loose my shining armor and you loose your appreciation for my lack of it. We will see just who is who. The truest compass reads” a friend loves at all times”. Real love is never rude, self-centered, ever patient bearing up under adverse conditions. It will require a lot of discipline to walk in that sunlight. It is a rare and treasured quality. Much to be desired.

During a dark hour in our country on 911 there was a blind gentleman who was on a top floor in the Twin Towers. His seeing eye dog felt eminent danger and without fail navigated the man from his office cubicle to the stairwell. They traveled down many flights of steps till their feet rested safely on the streets of Manhattan away from dust and falling buildings and the hussle of that day. Time will come in life when you will need a true friend, a friend who will navigate you past shaking economies, falling employment, uncertain circumstances of eery sore. You may either need a good companion or you may fill the shoes of a great friend yourself. Relationships involve risk, decisions made often affect the lives of many others. Walk grounded and sure footed. our life and the lives of others may be in peril because of a short sighted decision or it may need a little tweaking to bring better results. Steer soundly by day and by night.
